Monthly Newsletter: January 2025 (No.36)

Welcome to Our Technicolor Life Monthly Newsletter!

Happy New Year and welcome back to another exciting edition of Our Technicolor Life's monthly newsletter! We're thrilled to have you join us on our colorful journey through the many facets of our adventurous lives. As always, we're Jeff and Carrie Ketterman, a dynamic husband and wife duo who are passionate about embracing a vintage lifestyle in the most vibrant way possible.

A Glimpse into Our Lives

In case you're new here, let us introduce ourselves once again. Jeff spends his days immersed in the bustling world of rail transportation as the General Manager at Kasgro Rail Corporation Management Division. With a fleet of over 500 heavy-duty railcars, Jeff is at the forefront of providing innovative solutions for the ever-evolving rail industry.

Meanwhile, Carrie's days are filled with creativity and artistic expression. As a painter, illustrator, and author, she breathes life into murals and paintings that tell stories with every brushstroke. She is also owner and hostess with the mostest at her tearoom, The Old Capitol Tea Room in historic downtown Corydon, IN. Being musically inclined, Carrie and Jeff also have two vintage bands, The Tin Pan Alley Cats and Rosie & the Rockabillies. Follow along each channel of Our Technicolor Life: Tea, Travel, Entertainment, Art, & Lifestyle.

TEA

It's hard to believe we just completed our 9th season at The Old Capitol Tea Room! It's been quite a ride and we are so excited that we were able to host so many wonderful people this holiday season for tea. We hosted Tuesday Afternoon Tea complete with a surprise proposal, a couple of Christmas Carol Radio Show Tea Parties, a Christmas Vacation Tea and Trivia Tea Party, and a couple of White Christmas Sing Along Tea Parties at The Old Capitol Tea Room.

TRAVEL

Ladies Day Out at The Glitz

Too much of The Glitz can be wonderful! It was a delightful girl outing having lunch with my beautiful, Mama! This is one of our favorite outings and drives anytime but especially during the holidays! And another great excuse to grab a ballgown and a bit of glitter for a lunch outing!

Little Nashville Afternoon Getaway

We made a quick trip up to Nashville, IN as a bit of a break from our busy schedule. After 15 days in a row of commitments/events, we knew we wanted to use our first open day before we finish up the tea room season for a little fun. A little shopping, some wine tastings and just enjoying this great Hoosier town always makes for a nice day!

We also visited the Doc Tilton House, to say hello to our friend and owner/operator, Jill Lane. Like us, Jill loves her historic home (one of the oldest in Nashville), and she even provides a "Micro Museum" for visitors to learn more about the home and town.

Holiday Shopping in Madison

For our first day of holiday break post tearoom, we headed to one of our favorite spots, Madison, IN. It's such a charming town and we love to see it all dressed up for the holidays. We may have been a bit behind on holiday shopping and it was another excuse to visit one of our favorite wineries, Lanthier Winery.

Carmel Christkindlmarkt

If you want to feel like you've been transported to a German Christmas market in the states, then you want to head to Carmel, Indiana for their annual Christkindmarkt. It is fabulous and for us this is a short drive to experience a magical day during the holidays. We made our annual trek up north to Carmel yesterday to experience their Christkindlmarkt festival. Always a fun trip with fantastic food, drink and atmosphere! It’s like you’re visiting Europe for a day! There are authentic German and Swiss foods all around you, plus hot chocolate and mulled wines. You can shop authentic goodies, crafts, and handmade items, and even take a whirl around the ice skating rink.

ENTERTAINMENT

Winter Wonderland at the High Stakes Rooftop Bar & Grill

The Tin Pan Alley Cats headed back to the High Stakes Rooftop Bar in downtown Louisville for a Winter Wonderland style evening of live music.

Holiday Music and Christmas Carol Radio Show at The Magnolia

A huge thank you to The Magnolia in Clarksville for hosting us for the evening! We truly appreciated the opportunity to perform in your beautiful space - it was the perfect setting to spread a little holiday cheer with The Tin Pan Alley Cats and The Capitol Players. If you’re searching for a venue to host your next function—whether it’s a wedding, meeting, or party—we can’t recommend The Magnolia enough. It's a stunning space with so much charm and versatility!

Harrison County Arts Holiday Open House Fundraiser

I'm not going to lie, we had the most gorgeous set up at the Harrison County Arts Center for the annual fundraiser. The stage was decorated so elegantly, and our background was a picture perfect postcard of the town square and lit up gazebo.

Grinch & Polar Express Storytimes

The week after the tea room closes and right before Christmas is always reserved for our school and private bookings of our holiday story times and character appearances. We made several visits to schools for story times, had a few private bookings, and even a special Grinch brunch. To inquire about our booking information and availability next season, just email ourtechnicolorlife@gmail.com subject Holiday Storytime Booking.

New Year's Eve with Rosie & the Rockabillies

We hit the road to Carrolton, KY for our first New Year's gig in many a year! Rosie & the Rockabillies helped usher in 2025 and have several dates coming to the spring and summer calendar so stay tuned!
