Welcome to Our Technicolor Life Monthly Newsletter!
Happy New Year and welcome back to another exciting edition of Our Technicolor Life's monthly newsletter! We're thrilled to have you join us on our colorful journey through the many facets of our adventurous lives. As always, we're Jeff and Carrie Ketterman, a dynamic husband and wife duo who are passionate about embracing a vintage lifestyle in the most vibrant way possible.
A Glimpse into Our Lives
In case you're new here, let us introduce ourselves once again. Jeff spends his days immersed in the bustling world of rail transportation as the General Manager at Kasgro Rail Corporation Management Division. With a fleet of over 500 heavy-duty railcars, Jeff is at the forefront of providing innovative solutions for the ever-evolving rail industry.
Meanwhile, Carrie's days are filled with creativity and artistic expression. As a painter, illustrator, and author, she breathes life into murals and paintings that tell stories with every brushstroke. She is also owner and hostess with the mostest at her tearoom, The Old Capitol Tea Room in historic downtown Corydon, IN. Being musically inclined, Carrie and Jeff also have two vintage bands, The Tin Pan Alley Cats and Rosie & the Rockabillies. Follow along each channel of Our Technicolor Life: Tea, Travel, Entertainment, Art, & Lifestyle.

TRAVEL
Brunchuary
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season fades away, January and February present a unique opportunity to slow down and savor the simpler pleasures in life. One of my favorite traditions during these quieter months is the celebration of Brunchuary. With our obligations and commitments, a little less demanding, it’s the perfect time to indulge in leisurely weekend brunches at our favorite spots. And post brunch we sometimes tie in an extra excursion, usually hitting up the thrift stores. Some of our favorite brunch spots include Le Moo, Selena's, Morning Fork, Brooklyn and the Butcher, and The Cafe.
So far our find of the month has been this vintage salon chair. We'd been thinking of getting one over the years when we've seen them out and about but hadn't committed. When we spotted this one at Fleur de Flea for an incredible deal, we knew it was coming home with us!
The Mary Street Midden Project
We had the opportunity to see a friend's archaeology project that will soon become a museum in Louisville! It's an incredibly intriguing story. I believe every child has dreamed of becoming an archaeologist and searching for hidden treasures. I certainly did. In fact, one Christmas, I even received a metal detector because I had grand hopes of discovering something valuable that would make me wealthy! Well, Patrick Donley now lives that dream daily—though perhaps not with wealth. Instead, he finds items more akin to junk, BUT junk from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. It's fascinating! This project is now in its sixth year! Patrick found out that his property was once the site of the Louisville dump.
So, beneath his basement—with the help of a groundhog he affectionately named “Phyllis” who was pushing objects out of her way—he began uncovering bottles, pottery, jewelry, China, bowls, children's toys, medical utensils, and a thousand other “treasures” that belonged to Louisville residents at the turn of the 20th century! Many are in pieces that Patrick and his now small team of “dirt-movers” clean and assemble. It's astounding how much they've already discovered, and they uncover new “treasures” every day!
I could easily go on and on about this amazing project, BUT I suggest you check out Patrick’s website to learn more about the ongoing project, now called the Mary Street Midden Project AND the future museum.
